The University of Twente (UTW), group of Signals and Systems performs research on digital signal processing, with biometric recognition and image processing as two main areas. The research on biometrics is theoretical as well as applied. SAS has a strong experience in fingerprint recognition, face recognition, multibiometrics and biometric template protection.

Contribution to TURBINE

UTW conducts research on additionally innovative fingerprint attributes in order to incorporate these with minutiae data and developing fusion schemes that can work in combination with template protection.
UTW also works on a data transform generating fixed-length feature vectors from variable-size minutiae sets and on the extraction of reliable bits, which are input to template protection from these feature vectors.
